An Estelí Puro Masterpiece
The New World Puro Especial was created by AJ Fernandez in collaboration with his father, Ismael. This line is a living tribute to the Estelí region, utilizing 100% Nicaraguan leaf grown solely on Fernandez’s farms in that region. The Habano wrapper and binder surround long-leaf filler tobaccos sourced from Fernandez’s properties, including Criollo ’98 from the San José farm and leaves from the La Soledad, La Providencia, and San Diego farms. This commitment to a single terroir earned the line critical acclaim, including a 93 rating from Cigar Aficionado and the No. 12 spot on the 2017 Cigar of the Year list.
Aged to Perfection
To ensure greater smoothness and complexity, all tobaccos used in the blend are meticulously aged for three to five years. The resulting cigar is known for its excellent construction, smooth draw, and generous smoke output.
The Blend and Flavor
The Gordo delivers a complex tapestry of flavors. It is full-bodied from the initial light, quickly settling into a medium-to-full-bodied profile. Core notes include espresso, dry wood, leather, and minerally earth, often beginning with bold pepper that softens as the smoke progresses. These robust elements are balanced by sweeter, secondary notes such as cocoa, almonds, and coffee bean, alongside subtle hints of dried fruit and sweet caramel.
This refined cigar is an ideal companion for spirits such as bourbon, rum, or coffee.
