The Dark Side of Enclave
After the spectacular success of the original Enclave Habano, AJ Fernandez turned to the dark side with the Enclave Broadleaf. While the original focused on finesse over force, this edition delivers both—pairing bold flavor with commanding strength. The Enclave Broadleaf earned a well-deserved 93-point rating, cementing its place as one of the standout releases in the AJ Fernandez portfolio. It was AJ’s first cigar to feature a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and the result is a smoke that showcases his ability to master any wrapper leaf.
Crafted at Tabacalera Fernandez
The Enclave Broadleaf Toro is handcrafted at AJ Fernandez’s Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The dark, oily U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper is thick and toothy, delivering a booster shot of body and spice to the already rich Nicaraguan core. Beneath the wrapper, select Nicaraguan long-fillers from AJ’s farms in Estelí, Jalapa, and Pueblo Nuevo are bound with a Nicaraguan binder to create a savory, full-flavored blend.
The Blend and Flavor
This full-bodied cigar opens with an immediate wave of black pepper and earth that commands the palate. As the pepper settles, dark chocolate and cedar emerge, joined by leather and warm baking spice. The retrohale is pronounced and peppery, with floral undertones that add an unexpected elegance. As the cigar progresses, cinnamon and a creamy sweetness develop, balancing the boldness of the Broadleaf wrapper. The finish is long and savory, with lingering impressions of charred wood, espresso, and a natural tobacco sweetness that rewards patient smokers all the way to the nub.
